Price comparison

Undoubtedly, the price is the factor that influences our buying decision on a great scale. Namecheap and GoDaddy, both offer cheap prices for booking domains, but there are some slight differences that make one better than the others.

Namecheap Price rate

Namecheap has three different price rates for .com, .net and .org. The registration price for .com is $10.69 and for .net and .org is $12.88 and $12.99 respectively. The renewal price in Namecheap is the same as of the registration price. Also, the transfer price for Namecheap is $9.69, $11.88 and $11.48 for .com, .net and .org respectively. Domain privacy is free for the first year in the case of Namecheap and from the next year onwards, it needs only $2.88.

GoDaddy Price rate

Just like Namecheap, GoDaddy to has three different price rates for .com, .net and .org domains. The registration price is $11.99 for .com and .net and for .org, it only costs $7.99. However, the renewal price of GoDaddy is quite higher than the primary registration price– $14.99, $16.99 and $17.99 for .com, .net and .org respectively. The transfer price of GoDaddy is same for the three domains i.e. $7.99 only. Again, the domain privacy price on GoDaddy is much higher than Namecheap– $9 per year.

After discussing the price of every segment of GoDaddy and Namecheap, it is quite clear that though GoDaddy provides you with cheap domains at first; it charges high from the second lot onwards. But Namecheap has a consistent price rate, and even it offers you a free trial in the case of Domain Privacy. Namecheap also offers SSLs at an exclusive low price than the GoDaddy.

Support system

It does not matter how many expertises you have, whenever you buy any new item many unsettling queries are bound to raise questions. And it is quite expected to get the proper help after you buy anything new. And the reputation of any domain registrar company depends on a lot of how efficient their support system is.

Both Namecheap and GoDaddy have experienced support team. Both have 24X7 live support systems, but GoDaddy’s support system is not available during Saturday and Sunday. Also, Namecheap’s live chat support system is efficient, and they respond quickly. Namecheap also has their status updates blog where you can always track their activities such as Namecheap’s server, scheduled maintenance, etc.

On the other hand, GoDaddy has 24X7 live support systems that work from Mon-Fri only. They have their own knowledge base, community forum, and tutorial videos.

If you compare them both, Namecheap does not provide any instant phone facility, and GoDaddy has a very poor system for live chats. But it is no doubt that Namecheap’s support system works much faster than that of the GoDaddy’s.

Interface

All the domain providers that exist online has a smooth system for searching domain names. And if your interface is bad or somewhat complicated, it is quite expected that your domain registrar company will be doomed in no time. The domain search engine or the DNS manager facility is different in GoDaddy and Namecheap. Although both provide smooth and efficient interface system, there exist many differences as well.

Namecheap review of Interface

Namecheap follows a simple interface structure that produces easy results without any complications. It does not have any unnecessary settings and also provides you with all the essential options immediately.

GoDaddy review of Interface

In comparison to Namecheap, GoDaddy is little complicated, and the whole DNS manager system of GoDaddy produces a confusing checkout system. Thus GoDaddy interface system is quite not perfect for any newbie, and also it takes much time to give the search results.

Who does want to go for a complicated process when you have a simplified version available right away? In the case of Interface too, Namecheap wins the race with the simplified version of Interface.

Extras

Extras are something you get after buying any new subscriptions. Either extra comes for free, or you can pay some additional charges to get the facility of such extras. Namecheap and GoDaddy are not an exception in the case of extras. They also provide many extras besides their core offers. Here we have enlisted the names of extras that GoDaddy and Namecheap offer.

GoDaddy Extras

  • WHOIS privacy package at $8 per year.
  • Email accounts from $4.99 a month.
  • GoCentral online store– first month free of cost. After that $29 a month.

In the case of extras, there cannot be held any GoDaddy vs. Namecheap because all the extras are helpful and it depends on the user as to which extra would be helpful to him. If you want to try out just a concept website, Namecheap is better with respect to extras, but if you want your website to be associated with WordPress, GoDaddy might be the best option.

Up-sells

For every domain registrar company out there, up-sells are quite normal things to offer to the clients. Up-sells are nothing but offering complementary products to your clients. Sometimes it can be annoying and sometimes it can be helpful as well.

In cases of up-sells, Namecheap and GoDaddy do not differ much in their perspectives. Both the domain name providers use up-sells to fetch more clients. However, Namecheap offers neat up-sells packaging for one-page websites, and some of those up-sells prove to be quite useful.

On the other hand, GoDaddy to offers up-sells just like Namecheap, but that is most irritating and aggressive at times. Also, it creates some unreal impression on new clients and thus tricks them into buying unnecessary products.

There exist many other domain name providers who do not trick anyone into buying up-sells. However, if you want to compare between Namecheap and GoDaddy, Namecheap is certainly good for providing less and useful up-sells. Also, Namecheap does not trick you into buying up-sells.

I also recommend some of best web hosting companies depend upon your requirement Bluehost, Inmotion hosting, A2 hosting, SiteGround hosting.

Ethics and Marketing tactics

The maintenance of business ethics and marketing tactics are the basis on which a business stands straight. If this base is shaken, the whole business foundation will be shaken immediately.

However, if we dig into the past of GoDaddy, we can find that at some point the business ethics and marketing tactics have been violated by GoDaddy. When the case of Stop Online Piracy Act was going on, GoDaddy supported the cause for their unfair advantage. The case favored to stop many advantages online entrepreneurs used to enjoy.

Namecheap, on the other hand, played fair legally in partnership with Electronic Frontier Foundation.

So in the case of maintaining ethics and marketing tactics, Namecheap can surely be labeled as the winner.

Customer Experience

In the case of Namecheap, the customer experience is smooth and seamless. This domain registrar is quite straightforward and does not involve any kind of upsell tactics. Also, Namecheap does not provide bells and whistles notifications like any other company.

GoDaddy is colorful and the experience is a fun one. First of all, GoDaddy is full with up-sells. Thus it may annoy you a little bit. However, the DNS management system has lots of offerings in GoDaddy.
